Our firm practices law before Immigration Courts in all 50 States, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the USCIS.

Karen Solis-Murphy is a New York immigration attorney and the founder of Solis & Murphy Law Group, PLLC. She specializes in Immigration and Nationality Law and is a passionate advocate for immigrants’ rights. Karen also has experience handling family and matrimonial matters.

As a Peruvian American, Karen understands firsthand the challenges immigrants face in the U.S. She immigrated from Peru when she was a child and witnessed her family’s struggles as immigrants. Inspired by these experiences, she pursued a legal career to give a voice to those who often feel unheard.

After graduating from law school in 2016, Karen was hired through the prestigious Attorney General Honors Program as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice. During her clerkship, she assisted Immigration Judges in New York Immigration Courts with deportation and removal proceedings. This experience provided her with unique insight into how immigration judges evaluate and decide removal cases, which has greatly informed her legal strategies and approach to advocacy.

In 2018, Karen served as an Asylum Officer at the New York Asylum Office after successfully completing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Asylum and International Operations Directorate Training Program. Working as an Asylum Officer and undergoing extensive training provided her with valuable insight into how the Department of Homeland Security evaluates and decides whether an asylum case should be approved or denied. This unique perspective has further strengthened her ability to craft compelling cases and strategic arguments on behalf of her clients.

Following her time as an Asylum Officer, Karen worked as a supervisory litigation immigration attorney at a private law firm in New York City for four years. She successfully represented hundreds of clients before Immigration Courts and USCIS, winning cases involving asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers of inadmissibility, VAWA petitions, U-Visas, withholding of removal, adjustment of status, Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) petitions, and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). Karen has represented clients from Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Bangladesh, Belarus, and more.

With a high success rate and a reputation for taking on complex and “unwinnable” cases, Karen prides herself on delivering strategic and results-driven legal representation.
